Again: After many trials looking into different websites, below recipe is the one that worked for me.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup butter
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tsp chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 3 teaspoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
- 4 small green chillies, finely chopped
- Curry leaves, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon asafoetida
What to do:
- In a bowl combine all the ingredients together. Knead to make firm dough for about three minutes
- Leave the dough aside (covered) for 10 minutes
- Preheat the oven to 180 C
- Make small balls from the dough. Take one and press it between your palms. Do not press it too thin
- Poke it with fork
- Apply oil on the dough before baking it. ( helps to turn golden brown)
- Place it on the baking tray. Keep it in the oven and bake for about 16 mins or until the edges begin to start during golden brown
- Prick in between and see that it is indeed baked. DO NOT over bake
- Remove from the oven and allow it to cool.
